E-Coupon for PCA Members - 20% Discount at Porsche Dealerships
All PCA members should have received an email from PCA announcing an e-coupon campaign with a 20% discount at Porsche dealerships. Click here for details. The offer provides a 20% discount off the listed MSRP for Porsche Genuine Parts, Classic, Tequipment and Porsche Design Drivers Selection merchandise. All Houston area dealers are participating, and the offer is good through the end of July.
The purpose of this campaign is to strengthen the ties between PCA and the dealers, who are generally supporters of PCA, but may not realize the number of PCA members, who patronize their dealerships. All members are encouraged to take advantage of this offer.

The Monthly E-Mail
At the beginning of each month the LSR Member-at-Large sends out an e-mail through the PCA distribution system that looks at the up-coming activities and events for the next one or two months. In case you miss this e-mail, or if it is unreadable, it is reprinted here.
Both PCA National and LSRPCA policy limit the PCA e-mailer for club business, and it is LSR's policy to limit the number of e-mails sent out with this system. Announcements that are not appropriate for the PCA e-mailer system may be posted on the Yahoo Forum.

The Porsche Parade
The 55th Porsche Parade ended on Friday evening, July 9th, with the Victory Banquet. Check out the PCA website for results and other info about the Parade. Next year's Parade will be in Savannah during the first week in August, so plan to escape the Houston summer heat and join the seven of us from Lone Star who attended this year's event for 2011.

The highlight of the Parade for Lone Star was the selection of Richard, Lisa, Alexandra and Christine Jackson as the Porsche Family of the year. The award was presented to Richard and Lisa by Hans Peter Porsche, grandson of Ferry Porsche. This award is presented to the family within PCA who were active and as much a part of the Region as possible, and they must stand out clearly in participation in the Region. They should be good competitors, good workers, good organizers, and good listeners. Community involvement where the Region or Club might benefit is also a contributing factor.
Congratulations to the Jackson family.

On a more somber note, Ron Baklarz received a special award for courage under fire after being "beaned" by a golf ball, while prepping his car for the concours.
Fortunately, the car was undamaged, but Ron received seven stitches at the local hospital.
Afterwards, he got back to cleaning his car, which (did we mention this) was not damaged in the incident.

New Board Members
With the hand-off of the DE Registrar baton from Richard Jackson to Gregg Platt, John Haworth assumed Greg's prior position as the LSR Store Chair. I'm not exactly sure how we convinced him to do this, but physical force was not involved. John also encourages and welcomes any ideas that you might have in regard to new items for the store.
Two other new board members have been added recently: Ann Retzler as Charity Chair and organizer of the recent Westside Tennis Charity event and Ron Baklarz, organizer of the recent weekend tour of southeastern Louisiana. Watch of the return of the LSR "gimmick" rally later this year.
PCA Events
In 2010 there are some great opportunities to participate in PCA and out of Region events, such as the two listed below.

Weekend Morning Coffee Get-togethers
In an effort to provide more opportunities for members to meet on an informal basis, LSR is encouraging participation in weekend morning meet-ups for coffee. Currently, we have events in the southern, northern, northwestern, and central parts of our Region. Eventually, we would like to add events in the eastern and western parts. To do this we need someone to pick a place and time. LSR will help get the word out. Click here for photos from a recent (April 2010 Uptown Park) event.
FIRST SATURDAY - CENTRAL
The central meeting is in conjunction with Coffee and Cars on the first Satuday of each month at the Uptown Park Shopping Center near Starbucks, 1151 Uptown Park (near Post Oak Blvd @ West Loop 610). This is not an LSR activity, but LSR members are welcome to attend, and many do. This event lasts from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.
SECOND SUNDAY - SOUTHERN
The southern meeting is at Cellar Wine Bar (formerly, the Paradise Coffee Company - same place, new name) at 1606 Clear Lake City Blvd on the second Saturday of every month from 8:30 - 10:30. Contact John Fabry if you have questions or need additional directions. Note that coffee and pastries are served Sunday morining - you can hang around for the wine (in moderation) and cheese, later.
THIRD SATURDAY - NORTHWESTERN
The northwestern meeting is at 9 am on the third Saturday of each month at the Starbucks at 290 at Spring - Cypress, in the Best Buy parking lot. E-mail Mike Shassere or call 832-693-5319 to answer any questions.
FOURTH SATURDAY - NORTHERN
The northern meeting is at 8:30 am on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Woodlands Starbucks located at the Market Street Section west of the Woodlands Mall. Information is published on the Yahoo Group site, and you can get e-mail notifications of all posts. If you have any questions, e-mail Mike Richey.
Both of these events are on the LSR calendar. We encourage all attendees, who are not members of PCA, to join and participate in other Region activities.

Volunteers
There is a need for committee members on the various Region Committees, and we have a vacancy for the Rally Committee Chair, which is an appointed position. This is a good time to review your interest in various Region activities and come forward as a volunteer to be a Committee Chair or Member.
Also, if you see an area we are not covering with our Committees and would like to become active in that area, let us know. For example, this past year we added a Ladies' Activities Chair, and a new leader/organizer for our Spring Tour.

Keep Up-To-Date
If your e-mail address has changed since you joined PCA of if you have moved, the club's information on how to contact you may be out of date. If you haven't been getting e-mail alerts about up-coming club events, please update your member profile (e-mail and residence address, the year or model of the Porsche you drive, or any other profile information) with PCA. You must update your PCA profile to get in on the PCA "automated" e-mail distribution, and if you don't want to be on the mailing list, you must opt out on the PCA website.
