The Monthly E-Mail

At the beginning of each month the LSR Member-at-Large sends out an e-mail through the PCA distribution system that looks at the up-coming activities and events for the next one or two months. The e-mail generally highlights events on the Calendar for the next two to three months, plus any special activities coming up.

Both PCA National and LSRPCA policy limit the PCA e-mailer for club business, and it is LSR's policy to limit the number of e-mails sent out with this system. Announcements that are not appropriate for the PCA e-mailer system may be posted on the on the LSR Facebook page (log-in to Facebook required) or the Yahoo Forum.

A Double Header Event (and nothing to do with baseball)

Mark your calendars for a double header event on May 25th:

  • From noon to 4 pm drive your Porsche over to Mancuso Harley-Davidson – Crossroads for wine, cigars (and a few motorcycles to supplement our Porsches) and a charity raffle. If you plan to attend, RSVP to Ann, our Charity Chair (details coming soon).
  • In the evening join us for an international dinner at Le Mistral, 1400 Eldridge Parkway. If you plan to attend one, RSVP to Pam, our Activities Chair, by the Wednesday before the event.

And if you go to the Woodlands GTG in the morning, you can make this a triple header and spend all day with your loved ones (that would be your Porsche and someone else)

LAUNCH 'EM - POSTPONED UNTIL 2014 (due to needed repairs to the Lex)

We will have a tour to Corpus Christi, where we will display our cars and have lunch on the deck of the USS Lexington. We hope to beat the Corvette Club's record of 200 vehicles on board the aircraft carrier. One person will be selected to be catapulted off the deck in their car. Just kidding. Join us n 2014.

OZARK TOURS - October and November

This fall Jack McCall will celebrate the 30th anniversary of this Porsche pilgrimage to the Ozarks. It is the culmination of the best practices on the best roads, staying at the best resorts. The menus have been fine tuned to include the most popular selections from previous years plus a few surprises. You cannot find a better road trip.

First time participants and experienced road warriors alike will appreciate the in-depth organization of a mostly laissez faire agenda. For those who haven't seen "Top of the Rock", you are in for a treat. For those who saw it last year, get ready for one more year of construction and wild ideas.

31 slots have been filled, only 9 more can be guaranteed at this point (May 2013). We are working on contigency plans should we reach our limit at Big cedar. PMA (Porsche Mental Attitude), think of the reasons you should and can go. Make this the year to really celebrate your Porsche ownership. "The Roads are Waiting."

Note: This is not an LSR or PCA activity. Contact Jack McCall for additional information. Registration forms are linked from the Calendar web page.

Weekend Coffee Get-togethers

In an effort to provide more opportunities for members to meet on an informal basis, LSR is encouraging participation in weekend morning meet-ups for coffee. Currently, we have events in the southern, northern, northwestern, and central parts of our Region. Eventually, we would like to add events in the eastern and western parts. To do this we need someone to pick a place and time. LSR will help get the word out. Click here for photos from a recent events.

Eric Serrell coordinates our Get-Togethers, and he would appreciate any questions, comments, or volunteers.

FIRST SATURDAY - CENTRAL

The "central" meeting is in conjunction with Coffee and Cars Houston on the first Saturday of each month. This is not an LSR activity, but LSR members are welcome to attend, and many do. This event lasts from 7:00 am to 9:00 am at Vintage Park, 249 and Alemeda Road. Arrive before 7 am if you want to park with the other Porsches, as sometimes over 1,000 cars from various clubs show up. Click here for the details.

SECOND SATURDAY - SOUTHERN

The southern meeting is at Dunn Bros. Coffee, 201 S. Friendswood Drive in Friendswood on the second Saturday of every month from 8:30 - 10:30. Contact John Fabry if you have questions or need additional directions. Parking is at the back of the shop.

THIRD SATURDAY - NORTHWESTERN

The northwestern meeting is at 9 am on the third Saturday of each month at the Starbucks at 290 at Spring - Cypress, in the Best Buy parking lot. E-mail Mike Shassere or call 832-693-5319 to answer any questions.

FOURTH SATURDAY - NORTHERN

The northern meeting is at 8:30 am on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Woodlands Starbucks located at the Market Street Section west of the Woodlands Mall. Information is published on the Yahoo Group site, and you can get e-mail notifications of all posts. If you have any questions, e-mail Mike Richey.

All of these events are on the LSR calendar. We encourage all attendees, who are not members of PCA, to join and participate in other Region activities.

Third Thursday Social Hour

And if you can't wait for the weekend, join our Activities Chair, Pam Fitzgerald, for a social hour (or hours) at the Stag's Head, on the third Thursday of each month. Meet other members of LSR and discuss your cars or whatever. The "meeting" will start at 6:30, or whenever you plan to sneak away from work.

The Stag's Head is just of the Southwest Freeway (59) at 2128 Porstmouth (three blocks north of 59 or one block south of Richmond on South Shepherd). Look for people who look like they are looking for other Porsche drivers.

And if this turns out to be popular, we will organize other "social" meetings around the area - those weekend coffee slurpers need some competition! Volunteers anyone?

Volunteers

There is a need for committee members on the various Region Committees. This is a good time to review your interest in various Region activities and come forward as a volunteer to be a Committee Chair or Member.

Also, if you see an area we are not covering with our Committees and would like to become active in that area, let us know. For example, this past year we added a Ladies' Activities Chair, and a new leader/organizer for our Spring Tour.

Keep Up-To-Date

If your e-mail address has changed since you joined PCA of if you have moved, the club's information on how to contact you may be out of date. If you haven't been getting e-mail alerts about up-coming club events, please update your member profile (e-mail and residence address, the year or model of the Porsche you drive, or any other profile information) with PCA (log-in required). You must update your PCA profile to get in on the PCA "automated" e-mail distribution, and if you don't want to be on the mailing list, you must opt out on the PCA website.
